His voice hardly sounded like his own. It was feeble, tremulous…

"I came back."

My own voice trembled, and I let the tears fall freely. He said nothing, and his eyes glistened as he simply stared. Silence hung in the air, draped with endless emotion, heavy and stifling and steeped in sorrow so powerful that I could not help but sob anew.

He let out a soft sigh, pained and mournful and tinged with wonder, and from his lips fell, scarcely more than a whisper,

"You came back."

I drew my fist up to my mouth, shaking my head furiously and choking back more sobs, my shoulders shaking with the effor

Down Once More TranslatedSubliminal messages abound in The Phantom of the Opera. Some are so entwined in such carefully constructed, phallic metaphors, that it may be difficult to sift through the passionate web of angst and decipher the lyrics' true meanings. So here, for your clarity, I have provided a translation of some of the musical's most elaborate lyrics. The original lyrics will be italicized, while the translations will not. It is my desire that your next viewing of Phantom should be an enlightened one, and my sincerest hope that these translations will clear up any confusion.

Dementor's Kiss It's a common misconception that dementors can't talk. I blame the media, perpetuating this image of these demonic, scabby, silent fiends who creep up on unsuspecting, window-shopping witches and suck themselves a nice, cool soul margarita. Granted, the whole "demonic, scabby, soul-sucking" thing is right on the money, but the silent part? Not exactly.

See, I know a thing or two about dementors. And believe me when I say that they can talk. Sure, they'll clam up when they're doing their business. Goes with the whole Grim Reaper thing. But nine times out of ten, they do talk. A lot.

And they never. Shut. Up.

I'm a bustle lover and tend to gravitate toward the 1870s-1880s as a result when I design Victorian wear, but sometimes, there's nothing like a big, poofy crinoline!

So here's a design for a dress for Christine had the story taken place in the 1860s instead of the 1880s. Now, I have to admit, this dress has a decidedly American Civil War look about it, and I don't know if this style was quite as in vogue in Paris at the time, but we'll just roll with it.

The main material of the skirt and the bodice would be a wool/silk blend with the blue and red silk ribbons/trim around the bottom of each layer. The ruffles are silk as well, while the gloves are black lace.

Christine would have a heck of a time navigating the Opera's narrow corridors in that skirt!
