Christine and Erik spend Christmas together, the "normal" way. Unfortunately, Erik and normal don't particularly get along...
The Holiday: Chapter Eleven“…I do not understand.”

Christine furrowed her brows and cocked her head to the side.

“What do you not understand?” she asked.

I stared down at the flat parcel she had placed in my lap. It felt foreign sitting there, like some strange animal that both baffled and astounded me. It was not particularly heavy, yet it seemed far too…solid.

“What is the purpose of this?”

“There is no purpose,” she laughed, “other than it is Christmas and I love you.”

The Holiday: Chapter Ten“Phannum?”

I clenched my teeth in frustration and withdrew my attention from the composition in front of me with great difficulty.

“I am busy,” I said coldly. The boy in the doorway shuffled his feet nervously and fingered the large scarf that draped over his neck.

“I-I know.”

“I do not believe that you do, for if you did, you would not pester me so.” The pen resumed scribbling notes onto the staff, a lovely melody unfurling in my head and spilling out onto the parchment.  It was a gift for her, inspired by her, and named for her. The Holiday: Chapter Nine    Despite the distant throb in my bones, I found that I still held a reverent respect for the cold. It cleared one’s mind, no questions asked. It simply went about its business in the bluntly beautiful way that winter weather does. I blinked. Her soft inquiry nearly jerked me out of my stupor, though I still could not tear my eyes away from where she sat on the bed.

The Holiday: Chapter FiveIt was snowing when we arrived.

Snowing rather heavily, I might add. Have I mentioned that I loathe snow?

Christine loves it. I watched her jump out of the carriage and utter a cry of delight at the sparkling white landscape, laughing in sheer, unabashed joy.

She was, after all, beside herself with excitement (why, I have no idea). When she met me outside the Rue Scribe entrance on the night of our departure, dragging a large suitcase behind her, she was giggling like a child.

I can't even tell you how many times I've read this. It's just so well written, and the story is adorable yet believable. You have Erik's idiom down to a hilarious science. Major props! =D
